Designed by John Christophers architects associated as a family home, this house is a winner of the RIBA architectural excellence in 2010. It is a unique zero-carbon project in the inner city Birmingham, UK. The new house was built around an existing two-bedroom Victorian semi-detached house, produces as much energy as it consumes and is twice as large as the original. There are now four bedrooms and a loft studio. Development costs £ 1,0 per sqm and has more than 14 recycled materials, and integrating sustainable building materials.
